Hi! My name is Chih-Yuan. You can also call me Arthur.

Profile Picture         My childhood dream was to become an astronaut in NASA. I wanted to build space shuttles capable of carrying people on a long distance trip across the universe. In fact, this is one of the very first reasons why I chose engineering to be my career. One time at the airport, I noticed a very eye-catching line painted on the wall, "Are you one of life's passengers?". I paused there for a while and thought, "I want to be the pilot." I have spent my life learning knowledge, and now it is time to apply it and be part of future engineering milestones.

We are in the era of artificial intelligence. It is through my one-year work experience as an R&D Engineering intern that I have developed a strong interest in pursuing an industry oriented robotics degree. I have witnessed a variety of applications that robotic technology can be utilized in. From my past and current research experiences, I have been heavily involved with improving health care, namely to find advanced therapeutic treatment for complex human diseases that currently don't have cures for. As a mechanical engineer, I consider how engineered systems work in the same way that biological systems remodel themselves. I truely believe that by studying and understaning nature's machines, we can build smarter man-made machines to meet our fast changing needs.

I aspire to one day be a pioneer and uncover unifying principles between biological systems and artificial intelligence in order to create medical innovations.

As an international student, I have lived in ...
